Most design systems die in the handoff. The ones that survive are the ones where the design file and the production code share a vocabulary — same names, same tokens, same spacing scale.
Name Things Once
If the designer says “surface-raised” and the stylesheet says “card-bg”, you have two systems pretending to be one.
